Je Suis Prest Ready To Step Up

Oct 12, 2015

Je Suis Prest stamped herself as a horse to follow with an impressive win at the Gold Coast on Saturday. The lightly raced four year old was having just her fourth career start but proved the future is bright with a gutsy all the way win from an awkward gate.

"She's a tough little mare," Herne said.

"Nothing's really gone right for her in all of her starts and she's never drawn a barrier. Her maiden win at Beaudesert was in a similar fashion, faced with getting caught wide and pushing forward. She's a very competitive horse so once she gets to the front she's very hard to get past."

Jumping from barrier six in the field of eight and facing the prospect of being caught three deep, Je Suis Prest was urged to the front by the 900m and pretty much made it a one act affair from there, drawing away in the final 200m to win eased down by two and a half lengths in a good time of 1:10:13.

"I was really confident she could win today," Herne said.

"If she had of drawn a barrier last start she wins and with the run under her belt I knew fitness was never going to be an issue and that she'd tough it out at the end.

"I really like these O'Lonhro's. From what I've seen they all seem to be tough with a great will to win and I wouldn't complain if I had a stable full of them. I've already got a couple more young ones in the stable and they have great attitudes to their work."

Je Suis Prest has now had four starts for two wins and a second including $26,000 in prizemoney. If you missed the race please see the link below.
